Dear Members (and potential members):

Thank you for your continued support and interest in Chesterfield. Historical Society (CHS) and the iconic Stone House Tavern Museum (SHTM). The Museum was open to the public in 2025 because of your support and generosity…thank you!  While a great deal has been accomplished to enhance and preserve the SHTM, there remains the continued restoration and usual maintenance.  On the Membership Form is a posting of membership levels that you, your family, or your business can choose to show your continued support. The Board knows everyone does not have the same ability to financially support our organization and Stone House Tavern Museum (SHTM) Project. If you are unable to give at the “Friend” level, but wish to be a member, donate as you are able; we value your membership!  If your budget allows an increase in your membership level, the additional funds will be appreciated, since our expenses, like yours, have risen.

The membership form is located below. To support Chesterfield Historical Society (CHS) and the Stone House Tavern Museum, several funds have been establish. They are explained in the button below instead of on the back of the membership form as noted on the mail in form. The sustainability funds are general money dedicated to either the Historical Society or Stone House Tavern Museum. If you wish your money to go into a specific fund or be split between funds, that has to be noted on your membership form. This is especially important with the restricted funds as they will only be used for their stated purpose. Donations without notation will go into the CHS general fund to be used as needed.

Facts of Interest:

1. It is important that we have your correct email address. In 2025 CHS sponsored five programs. Over twenty announcements, including Bits of History (sharing Chesterfield’s past), and CHS updates/reminders, were emailed to members using Constant Contact. Having your email allows us to keep you informed.

2. The Annual Meeting and potluck dinner was held on Sunday, October 26 at 12:30 at the Town Hall. Bylaw revisions were adopted. These Bylaws can be viewed at the CHS building.

Other Information:

a. CHS is open to the public Thursdays 9:30-12:00 and by appointment. Contact CHS via the website to arrange to meet. Volunteers continue to preserve and catalog ephemera, and renovation/maintenance continues at the Stone House Tavern Museum and at the CHS building.

b. CHS is looking for suggestions for the 2026 program topics. Please be in touch if you have ideas for the coming year.
