The Northern Lights Visit Chesterfield
The Northern Lights were spectacularly visible across New Hampshire in November 2025, especially around November 11th - 13th. A strong G4 geomagnetic storm on the sun sent charged particles to Earth. These particles interacted with Earth's atmosphere and created vibrant greens and reds. To preserve this event for future generations, a book with the collection of posted photos is being created and will be on display in the CHS building after the first of the year. Here are a few photos taken by Chesterfield residents and posted on the Chesterfield Facebook page.
The Aurora Borealis
Shimmering ribbons of light,
Dancing in the velvet night.
Aurora borealis, mystical and bright,
A cosmic spectacle, a breathtaking sight.
A palette of colors, so surreal,
Green, pink, and purple, they reveal
A celestial dance, so pure and free,
A dazzling display for all to see.
A moment in time, a celestial symphony,
Aurora borealis, a cosmic melody,
A wonder of nature, a celestial show,
Aurora borealis, a sight to behold.

She sings and roars, bare and cold;
Unknown dances in her words of old,
are the distant echoes of stories untold.
Colors of brilliance shine then fade;
teaching silent lessons, and in their wake
a path of peace is laid.
