Stone House Tavern Museum

The Stone House Tavern Museum is the Chesterfield Historical Society's most extensive project ever! Purchased in 2018, the renovations have taken over 6 years. The Historical Society would like to acknowledge this long and continuous support by a special opening devoted to the Chesterfield community (please note rules below).

Chesterfield Community Opening

Sat. June 7, 2025                9am - 1:00 pm

Admission is free. Donations gratefully accepted.

Take a step back in time and experience the many unique features of this amazing historical structure. The second-floor ballroom, original cooking hearth and beehive boiler are just a few. You'll also see antique furniture and garments, Spofford Lake memorabilia, and a children's room complete with hands-on exhibits.

CHS is proud to say the museum is ADA accessible throughout the first floor with thanks to the Putnam Foundation and NH Land & Community Heritage Program (LCHIP).

If you can't make this community opening, not to worry....... The museum will be open on a regular basis later this summer and hours will be posted here!

  • This special community opening is limited to Chesterfield residents only.
  • You must park at the Central School parking lot where a bus will take you to the Stone House for 30 min. tours.
  • The bus will load on the hour at 9, 10, 11 & 12 and it only holds 20 passengers. All seating will be on a first come, first served basis.
  • Reservations are not permitted; children must be attended by an adult and no pets allowed.
  • There is absolutely no parking at the Stone House due to space constraints.
